Quinoa Pizza Base

Quinoa Pizza Base

  • 2 cups of quinoa flour

(you can get it in holland & Barret, if you cant get it blitz quinoa seeds in a food processor untill it becomes flour

  • 3 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1/4 cup hotwater
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3/4 cup water

(add extra if dry- add 1 tbsp at a time, moisten until dough just sticks together but is not soupy or shiney)

  • 3 tbsp Italian seasoning- oregano, rosemery, thyme
  • 1 clove minced garlic

in a bowl add quinoa flour and flaxseed, then whisk in in hotwater and olive oil, use a wooden spoon or your hands to kneed all the ingredients together thoroghly

Drizzle some coconut oil on your pizza pan. cast iron skillet ot even a medium size cake tin (who said pizza had to be round :)

press the dough outwards from the centre untill it is all evenly spread on the pan

(if you have alot dont try to use it you want your base thin, freeze the rest for later usage)

Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes on medium heat untill your quinoa base is starting to brown and crisp. then add desired sauce and toppings (lots of veggies)

bake for another 15 minutes or untill ingreients are the way you desire

if you half your sauce and use the other half poured over your ingredients your pizza will taste fuller and creamy and you wont be able to tell the cheese is missing

I love how people are coming up with alternative pizza crusts to improve a favorite staple. I have also heard of a low-carb pizza crust made of eggs and cauliflower. The intersection of “healthy” and “tasty” is not so narrow as some people think!

I love pizza, and I’m always trying to find new recipes to try. It is one of the few things my kids will eat, so I’m excited that there is a healthier option to try. I’ll feed it to the tonight and see what they say. http://www.nitzaspizza.ca

That pizza looks delicious! I’ve never seen pizza with those ingredients before. I like the mushrooms and the onions that you put on there. That’s a really nice combination on just about any type of pizza. I’m a huge fan of pizza and I like to try all kinds of different recipes. I’ll have to try this one to see if it’s a hit with my family. I know I’d like it. Excellent recipe! Keep up the good work! http://barrospizza.com
